Can a pituitary tumor have any complications?

A pituitary tumor can have serious and lasting complications. Pituitary tumors-and the surgeries that remove them-can sometimes result in permanent hormonal imbalances. In such cases-people need to take hormone supplements. If a pituitary tumor presses on the optic nerve-it can result in blindness or serious vision problems. Another complication that can occur is a type of diabetes called diabetes insipidus. This illness is usually created by a larger pituitary tumor and sometimes by the surgery that removes them.
