Pituitary disorders usually take the form of non-cancerous tumors of the pituitary gland and last until the tumor is treated effectively. However, in some cases, treating the tumor can damage the pituitary gland itself. In these cases, treatment in the form of medications or supplemental hormones may have to continue far beyond treatment of the tumor.
