Do personality disorders affect children differently than adults?

Although symptoms for personality disorders typically present in childhood and are often brought on by traumatic childhood events, the medical community does not diagnose children with these disorders. For some children, symptoms that could be diagnosed as a personality order can also be part of the typical and sometimes temporary adolescent experimentation and development process. For these reasons, usually only those over 18 are diagnosed with personality disorders.
