Are there alternative treatments for oral thrush?

Minor cases of thrush or cases in people with healthy immune systems can be treated without medication. For them, the condition can be cured by eating live-culture yogurt or through the use of acidophilus supplements. Practicing good dental hygiene and minimizing dietary yeasts and sugars can also help prevent oral thrush.

Doctors often recommend eating plain yogurt or taking acidophilus tablets to treat oral thrush (candidiasis), a yeast infection that causes velvety white patches in the mouth. Though the infection is usually treated with antifungal drugs, rinsing your mouth with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution diluted with water several times a day may also help.
