Side effects of gatifloxacin ophthalmic solution range from mild to severe. Call  your doctor without delay if you develop continuous eye redness or eyelid swelling. Call 911 for emergency medical help if you experience symtoms of an allergic reaction, including trouble breathing; chest tightness; itchy rash; hives; or swelling of your face, lips, tongue or mouth. Mild side effects that do not require immediate medical attention include: watery, dry, irritated eyes; headaches; blurred vision; and an unpleasant taste.
