If I am pregnant, is it safe to use Subutex?

If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking Subutex (buprenorphine), a medicine that treats addiction to opioid drugs, including heroin and narcotic painkillers like morphine.

Doctors aren't sure if Subutex can harm a developing fetus, but studies in animals suggest that it might. What's more, exposure to Subutex during pregnancy might cause your baby to be born with withdrawal symptoms. Before you start Subutex, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant soon. If you find out you are pregnant while you are taking Subutex, call your doctor right away.
