Treatment of neck pain depends entirely on the cause of the pain. This could range from simple muscle strain to something as serious as fracture, cancer or infection. Mild pain may respond to ice, heat or massage, or medicines such as ibuprofen or Tylenol may be tried. A doctor should be consulted if there is any indication something more serious may be going on.
