What should I know before taking Codeine Phosphate and promethazine HCL?

Codeine Phosphate and promethazine HCL may lead to physical or psychological dependence. You should not take this medication if you have a history of asthma or lung disease. Codeine products should not be given to children for pain relief after surgery to remove tonsils or adenoids. You should know that this medication could cause extreme drowsiness, so you should not operate machinery or even allow children to ride a bicycle or roller skate until the effects on you or the child are known. Talk to your doctor if you have a weakened immune system, prostate or urination problems, seizure disorders, glaucoma, digestive problems, blood pressure problems, or gall bladder disease before using this medication.
