Who should not take iron?

You should not take iron if you are allergic to it or any of the ingredients in the drug. Tartrazine, a dye often found in iron medicines, is known to cause allergies in some people. You should also not take iron if you already have high levels of iron in the blood. It is possible to get too much iron, which can result in an overdose. You should also not take this drug if you have anemia that is caused by conditions other than an iron deficiency.
