Is there a cure for trichotillomania?

There is no one treatment for trichotillomania. Some people are prescribed antidepressants to address underlying depressive or anxiety disorders. The drug clomipramine quells the urge to pull for some people. There is some evidence that the supplement N-Acetylcysteine also curbs this urge to pull hair. Many patients also undergo cognitive behavior therapy, in which they learn to be aware of their hair pulling and are taught techniques to substitute other behaviors for hair pulling.
