Does magnesium interact with other medications or foods?

Certain medications can interact with magnesium supplements.

Talk to your doctor before taking magnesium, particularly if you take any of the following drugs: digoxin, Promacta (eltrombopag), licorice, mycophenolate mofetil, or Myfortic (mycophenolic acid). Your doctor may need to change your dosage with magnesium.

Magnesium from the diet is not present in levels high enough to interact with medications.
