Should parents postpone surgery that requires anesthesia for a young child?

Unfortunately, if a child really needs surgery it has to be done. With that being said, you should be very careful not to subject your children (or anyone) to unnecessary surgery. In general, it's wise to delay surgery in infants until they at least a year old, if possible. In a few cases (such as a tonsillectomy), a surgery is tolerated better by children than adults.
