What increases my risk for ingrown nails?

Injuring your nail or wearing shoes that are too tight can increase your risk for ingrown nails. If you have naturally, excessively curved toenails you may have a greater risk for ingrown nails. Other things that increase your risk for this condition include trimming your nails too close to the edge or cutting them in a rounded fashion rather than with a straight edge.
