What risks are associated with treatment of granulomatosis with polyangiitis?

In some cases, granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), formerly known as Wegener's granulomatosis, may be treated by drugs that suppress the immune system. These drugs can leave someone with GPA very susceptible to other infections. If you are taking drugs that suppress your immune system, talk with your doctor about protecting yourself from infection.
