Prokinetics are a treatment option for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). They help to strengthen your lower esophageal sphincter so that stomach acid does not enter your esophagus. Some drug and brand names associated with prokinetics include bethanechol (Urecholine) and metoclopramide (Reglan).
