Is Enablex safe to take if pregnant or nursing?

The effects of Enablex on an unborn child or nursing infant are not known. Enablex is considered a class C drug by the Food and Drug Administration. This means that not enough studies have been done to determine if Enablex causes birth defects in newborns, but the potential benefits of using Enablex during pregnancy may warrant using it. It is not known whether Enablex can pass through breast milk and affect nursing infants. Many medications, however, do pass into breast milk. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits associated with Enablex.
