There are many kinds of memory. Memory can occur in many different places, like pictures stored in different photo albums. The four places where memory is stored are:
- Your body. Memories stored here are called body memory, muscle memory or cellular memory.
- Your unconscious mind. These are memories of events, feelings, images or situations of which you have no conscious memory. They remain stored in your mind like a misplaced photo album.
- Your conscious mind. These are memories of events, feelings, images or situations of which you are consciously aware.
- Your soul. Many religious traditions believe that the soul carries memories of your sacred connection with a divine presence or God, and in this sense, a large part of spiritual healing is remembering. That is why spiritual growth often comes intuitively through remembering sacred connections. Some also feel soul memory is present in terms of a conscience that knows what is right and wrong.
