What are the different types of facelift surgeries available?

Facelift techniques depend on the extent and level of dissection of the facial tissue. Most simple is a mini-lift where a small amount of skin is undermined both in front and behind the ear. An extended facelift continues a skin only dissection further to the nasolabial folds and to the submental (neck area). A SMAS (superficial musculaponeurotic system) lift also involves elevation of deeper second fascial layer with a second internal tightening repositioning of deeper tissue. A midface lift may performed deepest (subperiosteal ) just above the outer bony layers. Finally, a liquid facelift is performed without scars or undermining, rather will dermal fillers into the atrophy area of the cheeks and deeper grooves and frown lines combined with Botox eradicating rhytides (wrinkles) in the peri-orbital and forehead areas.
