Common side effects and complications from a neck lift similar to any surgery include bleeding and infection. Both are less than 1% incidence from board certified plastic surgeons throughout surveys in the United States. Other complications include seroma, skin necrosis, recurrent skin laxity, scar contracture, and DVT and pulmonary embolus.
