Is there a cure for cytomegalovirus retinitis?

Unfortunately, there is no known cure for cytomegalovirus retinitis or the virus that causes the disease. Treatments exist that can help undo the damage caused by CMV retinitis and its symptoms, but once the virus has entered the system there is no way to get rid of it. If you have not acquired the cytomegalovirus and have a weak immune system, consult your doctor for steps you can take to prevent developing CMV retinitis.
