Parathyroid Biopsy with parathyroid hormone (PTH) testing may be used if patients are found to have a mass in the neck on ultrasound and it is unclear if it is parathyroid gland or other structure like a thyroid nodule or lymph node. These cells can be examined under a microscope to see if they resemble parathyroid cells or tested for PTH levels.
