Diet and exercise is important for everyone with or without atopic dermatitis, but when you have a chronic condition that's immune
related, managing your diet and exercise can be helpful in minimizing triggers and flares.
ORIS DAY (VOICEOVER): This means having as healthy a diet as possible, and minimizing exposure to simple sugars,
optimizing your exposure to healthy fats and antioxidants. Food allergies can be a special problem
for people with eczema, especially for children. It can be very helpful to keep a food journal to see if there's a pattern of foods that may be triggering
your eczema in particular because it's different for different people. ORIS DAY (VOICEOVER): In terms of exercise, it's great for everyone, no matter your age
or what conditions you have. Improving circulation can be helpful. However, sometimes exercise, if you're
exercising outdoors or exercising under certain circumstances, can also trigger your eczema. It does help to wear loose fitting cotton clothing so
that you can exercise and the sweat can be absorbed into the cotton, away from the skin, and minimize how that may trigger your eczema.
It also helps to manage your skin, in general, to make it as healthy and intact as possible. It's important to hydrate the inside as well.
Drinking plenty of water will have a very big impact on helping your skin look its best and heal better.
