Is research being done on bacterial ear infections?

There is still research being done on the causes, diagnosis, and treatments for bacterial ear infections, particularly infections of the middle ear, which are often recurring. It has been determined that family history is a factor in how likely it is that a child will get ear infections, but more research is being done to discover more about the nature of that relationship. Other researchers are trying to develop new ways to diagnose ear infections faster and more accurately. Also, some of the antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections have become less effective because the bacteria have started resisting them. So researchers are looking into new, better antibiotics that will eliminate even the resistant forms of bacteria.
