How common is inner ear decompression sickness?

Inner ear decompression sickness (IEDCS) is not very common, even among veteran scuba divers. IEDCS is just one form of many types of decompression sickness. All forms of decompression sickness are estimated to occur just once out of every 5,000 to 10,000 recreational scuba dives.
