What is Kinevac?

Kinevac is a drug used by physicians to assess the function of a person's pancreas and gallbladder. It causes the gallbladder to contract and the pancreas to secrete enzymes, allowing doctors to make sure that these organs are functioning properly. Kinevac is sometimes used in conjunction with X-ray imaging. When patients swallow barium to improve visibility on X-rays, Kinevac helps them excrete it more quickly, decreasing their exposure to radiation. Kinevac is injected. Its active ingredient is sincalide and it is available only to physicians.
