When using Humulin, it's important to know how to store and handle it. Store your supply of Humulin in the refrigerator, but keep the vial or insulin pen you're currently using at room temperature to make the injection less painful. Insulin vials can be safely kept at room temperature for about a month. Insulin pens should be thrown out two weeks after you first use them.

Some other tips about how to store Humulin:
  • Keep it in its original carton.
  • Don’t freeze it.
  • Keep it away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Use it before the expiration date.
