Neomycin and bacitracin is available as either a liquid drop or an ointment. Follow your doctor's directions and package instructions. When applying, shake the eye drop bottle or open the ointment tube and tilt your head back. Use your finger to pull your lower eyelid down to create a pocket. Squeeze the bottle or tube to drop the prescribed amount into your lower eyelid. Close your eye and hold it closed for a few minutes to allow the medicine to cover your eye. Wipe the tip of the bottle or tube with a clean tissue and replace the cap. (Note that topical neomycin and bacitracin ointments are not suitable for use in the eyes. Only the ophthalmic topical ointment can be applied to eyes.)
