What did the doctor paint on my son’s wart to make it go away?

Assuming your son was diagnosed with the creatively named “common wart,” his doc probably applied a prescription-strength salicylic acid preparation. These treatments can be repeated every couple of weeks, as needed. In the meantime, it can’t hurt to teach your son good hand-washing techniques (tell him to sing Happy Birthday to himself twice while getting warm soapy water in every crevice of his hand), and encourage him to wash his phalanges regularly.
