What is involved with the HIPEC procedure?

HIPEC or Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemoperfusion is performed by directly infusing a chemotherapeutic drug heated above body temperature into a body cavity such as the abdomen for 60-90 minutes. This is done in assocation with a surgical procedure such as debulking or cytoreduction for recurrent ovarian cancer.
