Can an MRI or a CAT scan show my essential tremor?

An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and a CAT (computerized axial tomography) scan are tests that gather information about your brain. These test are sometimes used to diagnose or rule out causes of many kinds of tremors. Essential tremors cannot be diagnosed with an MRI or CAT scan. Your doctor will diagnose an essential tremor by other methods such as taking a complete medical history and conducting blood tests.
