What can I expect during the first week after eyelid surgery?

During the first week after eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) expect some swelling and slight bruising. Your surgeon may have you take antibiotics for 5 days, pain medications, and a dose of steroids (in a tapered dose) to reduce swelling. Ice compression is very useful for the first 48 hours.
