How does Benicar HCT interact with other medications or foods?

It is important to not become dehydrated. Make sure to talk to your doctor about Benicar HCT’s effects on your body’s water and electrolytes. Discuss what fluids will increase or decrease hydration. Alcohol, for example, will decrease hydration and blood pressure. You should also avoid potassium and salt substitutes unless told otherwise by your doctor. You should also talk to your doctor if you are using other blood pressure drugs, steroids, lithium, colestipol, cholestyramine, oral diabetes medications, barbiturates, diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, muscle relaxers, or any narcotic. Tell your doctor about all prescription and non-prescription medications and supplements you're taking before starting Benicar HCT.
