What are the risks of using Lotrimin AF?

Lotrimin AF products are available in over-the-counter formulations that contain either clotrimazole or miconazole. Although little is expected to be absorbed into the bloodstream and cause interactions, drug interactions are possible with the following medications: dihydroergotamine, ergotamine (migraine/headache medication), ergoloid mesylates (treatment of dementia symptoms), ergonovine and methylergonovine (uterine stimulant). Allergic reaction symptoms can also develop. The risk for allergic reaction increases if you or your child has had an allergic reaction to other antifungal medications. To reduce the risk of side effects to a fetus or nursing baby, talk to your doctor about using Lotrimin AF if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
