Do miconazole buccal tablets interact with other medications?

Because miconazole buccal tablets work locally in the mouth and throat, little is expected to be absorbed enough to result in interactions with some other medications. Miconazole buccal tablets should not be taken by people who are taking pimozide. The prescribing doctor needs to know about all of the medications that the patient is taking, especially any of the following:

  • insulin or other diabetes medications
  • phenytoin
  • ergot medications
  • anticoagulants
  • trimetrexate
  • tolterodine
  • anisindione
  • fosphenytoin
  • dicumarol
  • fentanyl
  • phenprocoumon
