Does Onglyza interact with other medications or foods?

Several categories of medication used to treat diabetes may interact with Onglyza (saxagliptin). Be certain to discuss proper medicine dosages with your doctor if you are taking antibiotics or antifungal medications, protease inhibitors, or nefazodone, as these may increase the levels of Onglyza in your bloodstream. Onglyza may cause blood sugar levels to drop when taken with sulfonylureas, so your doctor will need to adjust your dosage. While taking Onglyza, you will need to follow your doctor's recommendation on what you should eat, as certain foods will affect blood sugar levels in the body. Alcohol may also cause a drop in your blood sugar levels.
