How should I take gabapentin?

You should take gabapentin exactly as indicated by your doctor. You may take it with or without food and in capsule, tablet, or liquid form. Usually, gabapentin is taken with a full glass of water three times daily. You should not let more than 12 hours pass between doses so that you can keep balanced levels of the drug in your blood at all times. You should not measure liquid gabapentin with a regular tablespoon, but with a dose-measuring spoon or cup. Sudden discontinuation of gabapentin can result in withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, pain, nausea, and perspiration.
