What is mometasone?

Mometasone is a prescription steroid used as a spray in the nose, an inhaled powder for the lungs and a topical applied on the skin. The nasal spray is used to treat nasal allergy symptoms. The powder for inhalation is used to treat asthma symptoms. The topical products are used to treat itching and inflammation that is caused by various skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema. Mometasone topical decreases redness, swelling and inflammation of the skin by inhibiting the mechanisms in the body that cause it. This medication comes in cream, ointment and lotion forms.
