What should I know before using histrelin subcutaneous implant?

Histrelin subcutaneous implant - Supprelin LA or Vantas - may cause you to lose the density of your bone minerals the longer you use it, which can result in osteoporosis. Histrelin subcutaneous implant is known to cause harm to unborn babies. You should not use this medication if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant or are breastfeeding. Although Supprelin LA and Vantas are meant to suppress hormones, in the onset of use, it can temporarily increase hormones which can highlight the symptoms of puberty. Girls using this medication to stop early puberty may have some vaginal bleeding or breast enlargement. If this does not improve within four weeks, talk to the child's doctor. Histrelin has also been found to cause liver damage, increase risk of heart attack in men and increase the risk of developing diabetes.
