What should I know about Androderm before using it?

Before using the Androderm patch, you should know that using testosterone can increase the risk of an enlarged prostate, prostate cancer or breast cancer. This is of particular concern if you are over 55 years of age. Also, you should know that the testosterone in Androderm might interfere with some kinds of lab tests, medications and conditions. Be sure your doctor is aware if you are taking anticoagulants or are diabetic. It is important to follow Androderm's application instructions carefully in order to avoid skin irritation or reduced absorbency of the medication and other complications. Androderm and other testosterone products have been linked to blood clots, called deep vein thrombosis. If you experience pain, swelling, warmth or redness in your leg, or if you have shortness of breath, get medical help right away.
