Cancer can sometimes cause adrenal gland disorders. About 30 percent of Addison's disease cases are the result of damage done to the adrenal glands by cancer. While cancerous tumors of the adrenal glands themselves are rare, other types of cancers may damage the adrenal glands. This occurs because cancer cells produce hormones that can damage the adrenal glands.
