How does ramipril interact with other medications or foods?

While ramipril does not necessarily interact with potassium, this drug can increase your potassium levels. Avoid using other food additives or supplements that contain potassium to keep those levels safe. Potassium increase is sometimes associated with the interaction between ramipril and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Ramipril may cause patients using diuretics to experience a large drop in blood pressure. Lithium users may have to reduce their doses because ramipril can increase its effects, sometimes to the point of toxicity, especially if taken with a diuretic. Talk to your doctor about any medications you are taking before taking ramipril.
