At what age is it appropriate to receive a tummy tuck?

Stuart A. Linder, MD
Plastic Surgery
Rather than looking at age only, we examine the  association to child birthing as well as weight fluctuation. Patients 18 or over do not require parental consent for an elective surgical procedure. We operate on patients for abdominoplasties from the mid 20s to the upper 60s depending upon the status of their health and whether they are a good candidate for the surgical procedure. All patients should undergo clear history and physicals by their internist as well as EKGs when over the age of 45 and full sets of labs including hemoglobin levels, coagulation panels, checking for clotting as well as beta HCG to evaluate for pregnancy. All of our abdominoplasty procedures are performed under general anesthesia by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
