Bacterial eye infections, once started on treatment with the proper antibiotics, will clear up within three to five days.
We usually treat for a week, just to be sure that it's completely gone, but usually they're much better within three to five days.
That's assuming that the bacteria is sensitive to the antibiotic that we give them. There are many different antibiotics
available for eye disease. Sometimes we get discouraged because we
assume it's going to be a common skin infection, and it could be something a little bit different or more
dramatic, and our antibiotics might not cover it. So occasionally, we have to go to a second antibiotic, or we actually take a culture and say, OK,
let's find out what this really is so that we can treat it appropriately. [RELAXING MUSIC]
