Diabetes has affected my life in just about every aspect of my life.
Among my friends, among co-workers, I just like them to know that it's something
that I have to take care of. I have to take control myself. When I'm not controlling my diabetes, I just feel terrible.
I do rely on family. I do rely on my wife a great deal. My son-- long-distance-- he--
he can be very supportive. I've assembled a great medical team behind me. I noticed within the first week of taking injectables,
my energy level was increased, a little bit sharper thinking, much more in control of my blood sugar.
As far as my-- my gardening hobby goes, we discovered hydroponic gardening.
That was our COVID-19 hobby. And this year, we've turned basically our whole back deck
into a-- into a farm. You know, fresh food is the healthiest food. The biggest exercise you can do to help--
to help your diabetes is any kind of cardiovascular exercise. But I also do yoga. And that helps stretch out the body and strengthen the body.
I use resistance bands for-- for the lifting. You know, keeping your body active is very important, especially with diabetes.
[GROANING] A chronic disease like diabetes is-- is, in the long term,
a degenerative disease. And you want to control that as much as possible. It's the diabetic that has to take control of the situation.
