This is going to make me be a better caregiver and be a better part of my family going forward. [MUSIC PLAYING]
One of the things that inspires me with my job is I have the opportunity to meet people all across the country that are affected by Alzheimer's
and related dementias. One time in South Carolina, after I had spoken to a group of people about Alzheimer's disease,
about what we know of the causes and the underlying biology, a woman came up to me with her two daughters and thanked me,
and she said, thank you for what you do. Thank you for explaining to me that what my husband is doing and his behaviors and his actions
aren't because he's just trying to annoy me, but because there is something wrong in his brain and he can't help himself.
This is going to make me be a better caregiver and be a better part of my family going forward. And that was one of the most inspiring conversations I've
had one on one with somebody that every time I look into an audience, I think about that woman and her daughters and the journey that she's living with Alzheimer's disease.
