Walter Molofsky

Bio

Walter J. Molofsky is the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Neurology and the Associate Chairman of the Department of Neurology at Beth Israel Medical Center.

Dr. Molofsky completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors in the field of Neurobiology and Behavior.

He then went on to obtain his medical training at NYU School of Medicine and graduated in 1976.

Dr. Molofsky then completed a Pediatric residency at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center Babies Hospital and then a Neurology residency at the Neurological Institute at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and in Neurology with special certification in Child Neurology.

Dr. Molofsky, following completion of his training, went on to establish with his colleagues from Columbia the Pediatric Neurology Service at UMDNJ in New Jersey. There, he helped developed the largest clinical training service in the state of New Jersey where he trained over 15 pediatric neurologists.

In 1996, Dr. Molofsky joined the faculty at the Beth Israel Medical Center, Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery (INN) where he worked closely with Fred Epstein, M.D., Chief Pediatric Neurosurgery and Alex Berenstein, M.D., Director of the Neurovascular Service at the INN.

Dr. Molofsky currently is the Chief of Pediatric Neurology at Beth Israel Medical Center. Beth Israel Medical Center with seven pediatric neurologists, and a pediatric neurology nurse practitioner is one of the largest pediatric neurology services in New York City. The Pediatric Neurology Service at Beth Israel Medical Center is a diverse and dynamic division, which includes experts in the field of epilepsy, movement disorders, neurobehavioral disorders, headache, pediatric stroke, autism, and cerebral palsy.

Dr. Molofsky has particular interest in neurovascular disease, (strokes, AVMs) neurobehavioral disorders of children (developmental delay, Autism ,ADD), seizures, muscle disorders and headaches

Dr. Molofsky maintains an active clinical referral practice and has offices in New York City at Beth Israel Medical Center’s Phillips Ambulatory Care Center at 10 Union Square East., West Orange, NJ and at ODA Health Center in Brooklyn, NY. He also sees patients with neurovascular disease at Roosevelt Hospital.

Dr. Molofsky is considered an expert in the field of neurovascular disease, neurobehavioral disorders, and general pediatric neurology. He is currently the head of the Beth Israel Medical Center’s Pediatric Headache Center. He has also developed a neuromuscular program at Beth Israel Medical Center and has authored numerous papers on neurovascular disease and neurobehavioral disorders in children.
