Holidays are some of the hardest times to control cravings and stick to your diet plans. With buffets and delicious baked goods, the temptations are prevalent. But there are some things you can do to curb your appetite and make sure you don't over eat when party time comes. First, eat breakfast EVERY morning. It has been shown to prevent overeating later in the day, which could save you tons of calories in the end.
Second, choose your foods wisely at every meal, whether it's a buffet or a family dinner. Fill your plate with low-calorie foods such as leafy green salads, vegetable dishes, and lean proteins. These will keep you full for fewer calories, plus they have tons of powerful vitamins and nutrients that will keep you healthy. It's okay to occasionally indulge in the richer dishes, like mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, but make sure to take just enough to curb your craving.
Third, before a cocktail party have an apple or some other fiber-rich, low calorie snack. That way, you won't be hungry when you show up to the party and will be less tempted to indulge in the high-calorie appetizers. Another tip, make sure to stand at least an arm's length away from the appetizers at all times and carry a drink in your hands to cut down on mindless munching. Finally, when you don't want to snack any more, pop a sugar-free mint in your mouth. The minty flavor will prevent you from eating more.
