Dr. Azimi's Background
Dr. Azimi is a proven respected and experienced cardiovascular and endovascular physician who treats the whole patient and not solely an organ system. Treating patients as family and focusing on prevention has allowed for superior care and results in his practice. He has gained local, national and international recognition.
After studying chemistry at Columbia University in New York City, he finished Dartmouth Medical School. Thereafter, he went to the prestigious University of Colorado Health Sciences Center residency program in internal medicine. His interests led him to Yale New Haven Hospital where he trained in cardiology, nuclear cardiology and cardiac and peripheral interventions.
He is quadruple board certified (in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology). He has quickly developed a successful practice in San Diego with local and national recognition.
He is voted by his peers as one of San Diego Magazines's Top Doctors in Interventional Cardiology 2013 and 2014. Castle Connolly has chosen him as Top Doctor in interventional cardiology in 2013 and also in 2014. Additionally, the Consumer's Research Council of America has added him to the list of America's Top Cardiologists in 2013 and 2014 and Doctor's of Excellence in Leaders of Healthcare publication 2014 edition.
He remains academically involved teaching students from USC and Midwestern School of Medicine. He serves on editorial board of Cardiology and Vascular Journal as well as Vascular Disease Management. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. He has lectured locally and nationally on diverse topics as well as had media appearances discussing important health topics.
