I met John at Sunnyview Rehab Hospital following heart bypass surgery that had several complications, leaving me in the ICU for five weeks. By then my muscles had completely atrophied and were still very weak when I was admitted to Sunnyview as an outpatient. To complicate matters, I had a loss of balance due to a long history with Meniere’s Disease and Neuropathy. Perhaps my most lasting impression of John was his knowledge and experience in treating all of my conditions. It was not simply one problem to resolve! Over the next six months he guided me through a series of outpatient tests, treatments and exercises, many of which I would also do at home.John’s enthusiasm and optimism are contagious. For everyone in rehab, it can be a long, tiring road. Following every outpatient visit, John would give me an exercise assignment to do at home. Knowing that he cared so much about my improvement helped motivate me to do as much as I could on my own.
