Dr McDonald replaced my hip via an Anterior (front) Approach. I was in decent condition (for a 57yr old) prior to the surgery, and had a very quick recovery, breaking 10,000 steps a day in less than a month. 6 months out and no problems. I can complete very rigorous hikes with only minor joint discomfort. My Apple watch shows my Walking Asymmetry dropped from a high of 9.9% preOp down to 3% post op (feels like zero to me). Only possible limitations is I don't think I would be comfortable jogging a 5k or engaging in sprints/explosive actions. I tried to educate myself on the surgery as much as possible (Youtube) and the more technical the question I posed to Dr McDonald, the more animated he became. He's a bit of a geek that way, but that is a big plus in my book. He also has a cheerful, confident disposition which is reassuring when being wheeled into the operating room. I would highly recommend Dr. McDonald.
